FOUR PAWS UK is incredibly disappointed that Newcastle-under-Lyme council has approved a proposal for two new poultry houses at a farm in Stafford. Intensive farming is an evidenced triple threat; it causes immense suffering to animals, contributes heavily to climate and environmental degradation, and poses a serious public health risk.
The proposal for the extension of this farm was met with nearly 1,000 comments, and only five were in support of its development. During the council meeting earlier this week, the application passed by just one vote. This close call is devastating news for all those who spoke out against it.
We will continue to oppose intensive farming units like this and actively encourage our supporters to do the same. Emailing local councillors and using their voices on social media can help demonstrate the strength of feeling against intensive factory farming throughout the UK."
