FOUR PAWS UK celebrates rejection of mega-farm proposal
Intensive farm expansion rejected by local council
Simon Pope, FOUR PAWS UK Campaigns Lead says:
“We are delighted that King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Council has decisively rejected the proposal to expand the Cranswick-based farm. Over 7,500 FOUR PAWS UK supporters stood up against this proposal, and the sheer volume of objections to the expansion sends a powerful message: the British public is overwhelmingly opposed to intensive farming systems that condemn millions to suffering and slaughter each year.
This specific proposal would have seen more than six million chickens and almost 50,000 pigs killed each year and subjected to cruelty day-after-day in the intensive farming system. Today’s rejection of this proposal is a crucial step forward, signalling that councils are beginning to acknowledge the devastating impact of industrialised agriculture – not only on animal welfare but also on local communities and the environment. We hope this decision sets a precedent for a future where compassion and sustainability take priority over factory farming.”
