Helping travel companies become animal-friendly

When travel returns lets no forget how to Travel Kind

18.2.2021

Through our great campaign work calling to end the dog and cat meat trade in Southeast Asia, we have had the pleasure of working closely with some companies in the travel industry. As well as supporting our campaign goals, companies like Explore have gone the extra mile to become totally animal-friendly and implement an animal welfare policy that means all their trips take the welfare of wild, domestic and community animals into account.

Our Travel Kind guide for the public is easily adapted into a template policy, and, with this guidance, progressive companies like Explore were able to adapt it to create their own policy. This is fantastic news for animals and sets a wonderful example to the travel sector. Explore’s Animal Protection Policy covers :

  • Wildlife in entertainment
  • Animal products and souvenirs
  • Advice for interacting with stray or community animals.
  • Poor welfare meat trades, and
  • Heath and safety

The policy in full is here: https://www.explore.co.uk/about/sustainability/sustainability-on-tour/animal-protection-policy

We are delighted that Explore is leading the way, and we will continue to work hard to promote Travel Kind within the tourism industry, but also to you, the travellers. There are lots of simple tips on how we can all travel kindly and make sure we have only a positive impact on animals and the places we visit.
