Sweeten your Veganuary

Our top five delicious Vegan treats for a kinder, greener future

22.1.2025

As we step into the new year, it’s the perfect time to reflect on our habits—and what better way to start than by considering the impact of our food choices?

The meat industry is one of the largest contributors to climate change thanks to horrendously destructive factory farms, responsible for significant greenhouse gas emissions, water pollution, and not to mention the inhumane treatment of millions of animals every year. By reducing our meat consumption, even just for a month, we can make a real difference for both the planet and animals.

That’s where Veganuary comes in! It offers us an exciting opportunity to explore plant-based options, enjoy delicious vegan treats, and show some love to our planet (and the animals we share it with). Who knew that being kind to the Earth could taste so sweet?!

If you don’t know where to start, never fear! It can be as simple as choosing a vegan chocolate bar as your sweet treat one day or trying the Veganuary special at Greggs (spoiler alert for what’s to come!).

We’ve put together a list of five delicious vegan treats for you to try this Veganuary.

‘Frickles’ from Aldi

Pickles + tempura batter = heaven!
Aldi have launched a huge range of new products for Veganuary but these beauties are the obvious stand out for all of us pickle lovers. Low in saturated fat and only £1.99 a box? What’s not to love?!

Greggs Spicy Vegetable Curry Bake

You’ve heard of the vegan sausage roll (which is also delicious, by the way), now make room for the Spicy Vegetable Curry Bake from high street icon, Greggs!
This little (vegan) pastry pocket of deliciousness is filled with peppers, carrots, chickpeas, parsnips, potatoes, broccoli and sweetcorn, all mixed in with a spicy curry sauce – now that is sure to warm up these chilly January days!

FOUR PAWS’ Red Lentil Soup with Quinoa

On the note of keeping warm, we’re fully embracing soup season and have our very own delicious recipe just for you! Our red lentil soup with quinoa is very, very good (if we do say so ourselves) and is perfect for sharing with friends and family.
Give it a go and let us know what you think!

Ben & Jerry’s Bohemian Raspberry ice cream

Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide of vegan ice cream ecstasy!
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the anthem that is Bohemian Rhapsody by the legendary band Queen, the ice cream Kings are relaunching this dairy-free delight complete with raspberry swirls and brownie pieces.
What’s more, proceeds from every sale go towards the Mercury Phoenix Trust. We’re all about protecting the planet and all its inhabitants!

THIS Isn’t Chicken Kyiv and Wings

Last but by no means least, plant-based giants THIS, best known for their vegan chicken substitutes, are launching not one but two new products – a fake-chicken kyiv with melted garlic butter (we’re salivating at the thought), and “hyper-realistic” chicken wings with skin made from seaweed. This plant-based poultry sounds cluckin’ amazing!

So, what do you say? Will you make some swaps this month? Let us know your favourite!
