FOUR PAWS is campaigning to reduce the suffering of animals during live transports.
The majority of farm animals at some point in their lives will be transported. Some farm animals are also sold to livestock markets to be sold and transported to an abattoir to be slaughtered. Millions of animals every year are being transported all over Europe including calves, sheep and horses.
The unloading and loading of animals from vehicles can cause immense stress to the animals which results in a higher risk of animal suffering.
Long distance transport causes tremendous suffering and pain for animals through overcrowding, extreme temperatures and inadequate food & drink and poor ventilation, all these and many other things during transit can cause welfare problems.
